Dumaguete City - the Rizal Boulevard - the City's Bay Front is known for its rich sporting tradition. The Metro

live band concerts, colourful parades and pageantries- May: the Santa Cruzan and November: the Sandurot
Festivals, December: the food exhibits and other commercial displays along the Boulevard provide year-round
excitement.

Amateur sports, physical fitness and recreational activities occupy a special place in the hearts of Dumagueteños as
manifested by the number of walkers, runners and promenaders seen along the bay front.

DUMAGUETE CITY

In addition to its sporting tradition, the Rizal Boulevard Bay Front Area combines a rich history steeped in tradition
and all the advantages of a world-class tourist destination.

Dumaguete City is a city in the Philippine province of Negros Oriental. It is the capital, principal seaport, and largest
city of Negros Oriental. According to the 2000 census, it has a population of 102,265 people. A person from
Dumaguete City is called a "Dumagueteño". The city is nicknamed The City of Gentle People.

Dumaguete City is referred to as a university town because of the presence of seven universities and colleges,
where students of the province converge to enroll for tertiary education. The city is also a popular educational
destination for students of surrounding provinces and cities in Visayas and Mindanao. The city is best known for
Silliman University, the first Philippine university outside Manila and the country's first Protestant school. The
Foundation University is the first non-sectarian educational institution in the Visayas region. There are also 12
elementary schools and 9 high schools. The city's student population is estimated at 30,000.

The city attracts a considerable number of foreign tourists, particularly Europeans, because of easy ferry access
from Cebu City, the availability of beach resorts and dive sites, and the attraction of dolphin and whale watching in
nearby Bais Bay.

There is an abundance of activities and entertainment through out all the Bay Front Area including for the whole
family to experience.

Dining - Suffice it to say that due to the Bay Front Area's location as a gateway city, its dining fabric has grown rich
with people who have come from all corners of the world and brought with them their culinary traditions.

Dumaguete City is 10-15 minutes drive from Airport and 5-minutes walk from the City Ports. Transportation from the
airport to your destination is provided by rental cars, taxies or the hotel bus shuttle.

Dumaguete City has two seasons, namely; the dry and the wet seasons. The wet season covers the period from
June to November, and the dry season starts from December to May, the hottest being April and May. The average
maximum temperature is 34.31oC and the average minimum temperature is 22.85o C.
